HAWKE'S BAY,
CALLING OUT OF THE MILITIA. From Hawke's Bay we have received a copy of the Ilawke's Bay Government Gazette, in which appears a proclamation from the Superintendent Donald M'Lean, Esq., who is impowered so to act, calling out the men of tne Niipier Regiment of Militia of the Hawke's Bay District, for active service, and appointing Major Charles Lambert to carry the same into effect. We also learn from the Hawke's Bay fjcrnlfl of the Bth inst. that "a section of the hapu residing at Matahiwi (the place of the late Moananui), as well as a hapu living near the Paku-paku, have embraced the Hau hau faith and set up a pole, with all the paraphernalia of this abominable idolatry ; and that volunteers, 13 we believe in number, were yesterday supplied with arms. Their destination is understood to be Wairoa. The erection of a stockade there has been sanctioned by the local Government, in which the urms recently sent ¦will be deposited for safety, and where the volunteers will remain for the present as a guard.
