this Province that I readily come forward and proffer any ability I may possess to assist in eradicating the existing evils. I fully appreciate the services of his Honor the Superintendent for the benefit of this Province, and am a supporter of his policy ; aa I am convinced that if be had a different Executive (and I may add a slightly different Council) so many complaints would not have been made against that policy. Should you favour me with the support necessary to secure me a seat in the Council Chamber, I pledge myself to be no supporter of any political party, but to attend regularly in my place, listen attentively to the arguments pro and con that may be adduced on any question, and, weighing the evidence, take a common sense view of the matter, and vote accordingly. • t I ara but a young colonist, which" is a guarantee, I think, that I shall support any measure for the advancement of the Province. Dear Sii# I have to-day received a requisition signed by you and a large number of the electors of Wellington, asking my consent to be nominated as a candidate for the Provincial Council at the ensuing election.
