RESIDENT MAGISTRATE'S COURT. (Before c. D. R. Ward, Esq., R.M.) THIS DAY.

Ann Gaskin charged William M'Donald with assault. It appeared, from the evidence of the complainant, that she was walking round by Clay Point, last night, when she was met by the prisoner, who, without provocation, assaulted her, and threw her on the ground. The charge being fully proved, tie prisoner was committed for fourteen days, with hard labour. On the information of James Brady, constable, Eliza Gale was charged with prostitution and disorderly behaviour. The evidence is unfit for publication. She was committed for one month, with hard labour. One other case of drunkenness was heard t and a fine of ss. inflicted.
