BRAIDWOOD. Tuesday, 7 p.m.
Yesterday morning, the bushrangers Gilbert, Hall and DunD, and another man, stuck up the Araluen escort, on Major's Creek mountain. They were beaten, off by the police. One, John Kelly, was dangerously wounded. Constable Burnes, with great gallantry, guarded the escort on the road. He was single handed at the time, and covered with his rifle any of the robbers daring to approach the escort from their cover iv the bush, while Constables fcstapletou and Gulligan fired from the rear, having left their horses and taken to the bush. The robbers left the double-barrel gun taken from Mr. Davis ; also, a sledge hammer and axe, with which they intended to break open the chest cont aining the gold.
Mrs. Charles F. Evereste, after delighting the inhabitants of the Hutt district, has determined to give another of her popular and amusing lectures, entitled " Love," comic and sentimental, on Monday night next, at the Odd Fellows' Hall. We are sure those who visited Mrs. C. F. Evereite on a former occasion, will gladly embrace the opportunity of again listening to this talented lady.
