Correspondence. TO THE EDITOR OF THE EVENING POST.

Sir— Being a large consumer of articles sold by weights, I frequently flWttiat my purchases do not en me up! to my statfdard. I wish to know if you can tell me is there any means of getting weight: or measure in Wellington, that is— has the Town, Board-any officer belonging to it to enforce the true balance or measure ibeingjused ; or is 'there such an officer as an Inspector, of Weights and Measures j and if' there is, whether he has caused any one to be flrted'for their shortcomings ? They do such things in Auckland and other piques, .but I have not heardfof such being d6ne in Wellington, although there is sufficient- room for it now. I have a large family, ami: .we take in about eighteen loaves every, seven days. Sometimes we have one thas, may gq two poui.ds, but they are, like angels' visits^ few and far between ¦, they are generally found to be 2oz. short of weight. Now, twice 18 make 360z., or one loaf and, oneieighth per week loss, or about 105!bs. of bread per annum. But it is, not in bread .alone, but in almost every other article we purchase, a deficiency in weight is- perceptible. Ido not blame the ' storekeeper foe these things, as many of them do not know whether their weights are just or not ; the blame attache* $o the authorities or the law that allow* such .things to be. Hoping that this may awaken the Town Board Commissioners to their duty*- <- »¦ i I am, &b., . ; ,"/ '. - „».. A Ymarwno.
