WILLIAM HOLMES, For the Commissioner of Crown Lands. TO THE ELECTORS OF THE PfiOVINCE OF WELLINGTON. Gentlemen, I HAVE, in accordance with the intimation given during the recent Session, asked his Excellency the Governor for an immediate dissolution of the Provincial Council. I have at the same time undertaken, on behalf of the General Government, an important mission to the Australasian Colonies —a mission in which you equally with the whole colony are deeply interested. Should I, therefore, not be present on the day of nomination for the election of Superintendent, you will, I hope, acquit me of any want of respect to those at whose hands I seek a renewal of the high trust co long confided to me. My presence on the hustings can scarcely be deemed material ; for you undoubtedly will judge me, not by promises for the future, but by my past administration Of the Government of the Province. Whatever your verdict may be, I shall most cheerfully acquiesce in it, and shall ever remember with gratitude the kind and gene- ! rous confidence you have, during a period of nearly twelve years, and in trying and diffi- ! cult times, reposed in me. I have the honor to be, Gentlemen, Your obedient servant, I. E. FEATHERSTON. Wellington, February 11th, 1865. DU. FEATHKRSTON'S pENTRAL COMMITTEE ROOM IS AT THE ODD FELLOWS' HALL. Office hours 10 to 6, and 7 to 9.
