TO THE ELECTORS OF THE PROVINCE OF WELLINGTON. Gentltcmen, I HAVE, in accordance with the intimation given during the recent Session, asked his Excellency the Governor for an immediate dissolution of the Provincial Council. I have at the same time undertaken, on behalf of the General Government, nn important mission to the Australasian Colonies | —a mission in which you equally with the I whole colony are deeply interested. Should I, therefore, not be present on the dny of nomination for the election of Superintendent, you will, I hope, acquit me of any want of respect to those at whose hands I seek a renewal of the high trust so long confided to me. My presence on the hustings can scarcely be deemed material ; for you undoubtedly will judge me, not by promises for the future, but by my past administration of the Government of the Province. Whatever your verdict may be, I shall most cheerfully acquiesce in it, and shall ever remember with gratitude the kind and generous confidence you have, during 1 a period of nearly twelve years, and in trying and difficult times, reposed in me. I have the honor to bo, Gentlemen, „ Your obedient servant, * I. E. FEATHBR3TON. Wellington, February 11th, 1865.
