PARISHIONERS' MEETING

ST. JOHN'S, LEESTON.

The annual meeting of the parishioners of St. John's Church, Leeston, was held in the Parish Room last night. The attendance was good and the business was considered and debated with a very healthy keenness. The financial report disclosed the fact that the money raised in the parish was this year within a few shillings of that raised last year. There was a deficit of £37 6s Bd, but on the;. other hand there was over £40 of subscriptions due and unpaid. The reports showed that all organisations were becoming increasingly, active and efiacient, viz., the choir and"*•*__ organists, the M.U. and the Bible- *'. classes. The thanks to all these were recorded by the meeting with acclamation, and fitting appreciation of the work of the vicar was also expressed. Mr W. Hurford was chosen to be minister's warden and Mr T. J. Free was elected people's warden. The following are the vestry: Dr. B. Volckman and Messrs F. B. Woodard, R. H. Ford, D. Duff and C. M. Blake. Mr S. Bongard was elected auditor. The vicar spoke of the improvement in the work at Doyleston. He would ' in future give Doyleston three services a month, and they would be formed into a separate sub-district, with ay committee of their own. After the business was concludai i supper was handed round and a shd_t [but enjoyable programme was contri- | buted by Mrs Felton and Messrs Henjderson and Blake.
