MOTUKARARA

WOMEN'S DIVISION N.Z.F.U.

ANNUAL MEETING HELD,

The first annual generac meeting of the Motukarara branch of the Women's Division of the N.Z. Farmers' Union was held in the Motukarara Hall. Mrs Geo. Templeton presided over an attendance of 38 members. 1 The meeting opened with the reading of the Women's Creed by ail present. The annual report was as follows:— "Since its inception on July Bth, 1930, when 29 ladies attended to form the Motukarara branch of the Women's Division, it has made rapid* strides to progress, the membership now having increased to 64, with a splendid average attendance of 40 per meeting. The branch has been very successful in obtaining expert instructors, without any extra expense, and is grateful to the Men's Branch of the Farmers' Union at Motukarara for co-operation and assistance, also to those persons who gave lectures and demonstrations, who deserve special mention. Our thanks are due to the Hall Committee for the free use of the Hall. The Branch was privileged to receive a visit from the Dominion president, Mrs C. C. Jackson at the January meeting. The amount collected during the year was £18 0s 3d, and the expenditure £15 13s Id, leaving a credit balance of £2 7s 2d. "It was unfortunate that owing to the Hawke's Bay earthquake ii was found necessary to levy one shilling per member for relief and for members to provide some garments for those in distress. "Much credit is due to our president for the success of the Branch. With her committee and fellow members, she has done what she could for the progress of our organisation. conclusion, we hope that the co-operation that has existed between members will continue right through the coming year, and so advance the good work of the Women's Division." Officers were then elected for the ensuing year as follows:—President, Mrs Geo. Templeton (re-elected); vice presidents, Mesdames H. A. Nutt (reelected), J. Rennie and W. Thompson; hon. secretary, Miss E. M. Thompson (re-elected); hon. treasurer, Mr T. Streeter (re-elected); committee, Msdames D. Anderson, L. Coop, C. E. Gray, J. Miller, B. Witte, Misses D. Hodgen, M. Anderson and B. Withell.
