The winners of the above events will receive trophies, the entry fees beingused to defray cost of same. A Ladder Competition is being commenced and players (for the purpose of having ladder positions allocated) are requested to hand in to the secretary or any member of the committee a card duly signed by player and opponent. The name of any player not handing in a card by Saturday, 23rd June, will be placed below the names of those who comply with this request. Mr 11. Neave was appointed captain and Mr U. 0. Power was appointed handicapper. It was suggested that the ladies appoint a' sub-committee to arrange and control their own matches and a meeting of ladies to discuss this matter is called for 2.30 p.m. on Saturday, June loth, at the elub":house. It was decided to alter the. bogey for the fourth hole "The Bushes" \352. yards) .from 5 to. 4, and the fifth hole "The Outcast" (150 yards) from 4 to o. This will bring bogey down from 40 to 38 for the nine holes. In consideration of the present state of the fairways it was decided not to alter bogey Xbr the eighth and ninth holes in thel meantime. In regard to lifting a ball from a bad lie on the fairways, it was decided to discontinue this practice which is contrafry to the rules of golf wherein it is laid down that the ball must be played from where it lies, and players Avill please note that nothirig must be done to improve the lie; such as pressing down with the foot or club-head the turf immediately behind the ball. It was decided that race tracks aw to be treated as bunkers on any part of the course, with the exception of Jie trotting track running through the third and ninth fairways where it ball may, at the option of the player, be lifted and dropped either on the track or the adjoining turf without penalty. It was decided that the penalty for out of bounds be loss of distance only; for instance, a players puts his second shot out of bounds, from the spot where he is then standing he J drops another ball an,d plays his thirtf stroke. In thtj event! of a tee shot going out of bounds, the ! player will tee up another ball and play j his second shot. In view of the state of some of the fairways it was decided to # make a temporary local rule dealing with the question of lost ball penalty, which, will bo the same as for out of bounds, viz, distance only. This rule will apply temporarily to both match play and stroke competitions. Supposing a player has played two strokes and caunot find his ball, he will then go back as near as possible to the point where he played his second and there drop another ball and play his thircT stroke. <- " In. the event of a ball being hard up against the bank of the racing track, the committee decided that the player may drop the ball on the track not nearer the hole without penalty. A ball lying- near the fence round the saddling ] paddock may be lifted and dropped not further than four club lengths from the fence without penalty. Members will realise that as thccourse is at present laid out, five comparatively short holes follow in succession at the commencemeEt of the round
