A GENEROUS GIFT.
Further evidence of the generosity and interest shown by Mr and Mrs Gardiner in the Leeston Bowling, Tennis and Croquet Club is afforded by the fact that Mr Gardiner has presented a fine Belay clock to adorn the club's pavilion and to serve a very useful purpose. The clock was placed in position on Saturday and a little ceremony took place after the Christchurch - Ellesmere match, when the gift was formally handed over by Mrs Gardiner amidst hearty applause. In accepting the clock on behalf of the Leeston Club, Mr H. Neave jocularly remarked that the bowlers would not now be able to excuse their late arrival home from bowling by , saying that they did not know what the time was. He conveyed to Mr-and Mrs Gardiner the sincere thanks of the members of the -club. Those present gave three hearty cheers for Mr and Mrs Gardiner.
