SIGN POSTS.

Sir, —"Why is it that'the County Council must ask the Automobile Associaion for a sign post at Bishop's Corner! Has the county an arrangement with the association for the purchase of such signposts, or is the association-a charitable organisation which provides '' buckshee'' sign posts to indigent counties like Ellesmere Why on earth can't we put up our own sign posts instead of begging them? ; All round' this county there is need of sign-posting. The roads are so involved that it is an afternoon's, wild adventure—a thrilling gamble—to' go out on a search for a friend's place.- The designers of the county plan seem/ to have oroceeded on the maxim that the longest way round was the short- '■ est way home and ignored Father ! Euclid's advice to make the shortest distance between any two points a straight line- The line oi beauty r in Ellesmere county is not a curve', but a zigzag. Sign posts are a hospitality offered by friendly residents to the wayfaring man. They are an indication of a large hearted consideration for the stranger.
