■ « ■«» » LEESTON CHARGE. j The last Assembly of the Pres-~ byterian Church, held in Wellington in November, agreed to adopt the budget system of church finance for mission and certain other Schemes of the church. The amount1 required for the present year is a minimum of £32,000, working out at 15s 8d per head of the communicant members of the church. The proportion allotted to the Leeston charge is a minimum of £87. At the same time the Assembly agreed to a special appeal being made to raise £4000, the balance of the amount required to claim a legacy of £8000, which was left by a gentleman in Canterbury. There were sevral persons who had a life interest in the estate, but as the last beneficiary has died, the money may be claimed as soon as the church raises the necessary £8,000.
