VETERANS v. DOYLESTON. ] A very enjoyable game of crick- 1 et was played at Osborne Park 11 last Saturday between a team! '. from Christchurch known as the ] Veterans and an eleven represent- ] ing the Doyleston Club. Owing J to the harvest Doyleston were unable to get their usual team out, '. but several young players were i found to make up the number. It ] was stipulated that the bowlingshould be under-arm. The visitors succeeded in winning by 132 runs to 102 runs. Afternoon tea was served by the local ladies. It is hoped that a return match will be played at Christchurch later ' on in the season.
