Viola Dana, the popular star, takes the leading role in "Dangerous to Men,"- the feature at- , traction at the Leeston Town Hall on Saturday next: Eliza, a mischievous, live-wire child, is placed in a small co-edu-cational seminary when her father John Vaiidam, a noted scientist, starts on a research expedition to the Far East. Eliza is dressed for the school by her father's spinster housekeeper in the plainest manner, calico dress and hair in a tiny bun, so that she will be safe from men. At the school her queer appearance causes the other girls to ridicule her, but she battles through ,and the ugly duckling becomes a very pretty girl. The scientific expedition is attacked by a band of Afghan bandits on its return several years later, and Eliza's father is mortally wounded. In his dying moments he dictates a will to Sandy Verrall a young man of the expedition closely associated with him. Vandam leaves his daughter, Eliza, to Sandy to cherish as his own. Sandy is under the impression that Eliza is a? golden-haired child of twelve. Eliza is heart-broken at the news of her father's death. She has become one of the most popular girls at the school. She learns that Sandy believes her .to be a child and in the hope that she will make a nuisance of herself she determines to go to him as such in the hope that he will be glad to Ship her back to the school. Eliza arrives at Sandy's home in the i same calico dress as she first ". ap- J peared in at the school. Sandy is greatly disappointed, but decides to make the best of a bad bargain. Sandy is engaged to Vera Laurence, an ambitious actress, who takes an immediate dislike to Eliza Sandy has a wealthy uncle, Montague Gregory, a gay old dog, and Vera is very much impressed by the fact that Sandy is his heir. Bui on meeting Uncle Gregory she immediately makes a direct ptay for his favour.
