These times have produced an unwritten beatitude/ Blessed are the sane, for they shall preserve humanity." This is the age of extremists. Let him froth at tJie mouth and they will say he is inspired. Theiv is :i plagn.3 oil.insanity in the ai'.\ : The world needs men and women who are sane as it never needed them before —men and women who have' kept hold of life's essential, health—men and women who know the value of laughter, and kindness and justice.

Notice is drawn to the advertisement for the basket-making class to start next Thursday in Leeston. The art of making1 work baskets, etc., from tussock was well known to the ladies of this district many years ago, but of late years they have been rarely seen except in the work of Miss Over, who made them for many a patriotic effort during war time, when they were eagerly bought. That the art of making these artistic, yet inexpensive, baskets may not be lost, Miss Cryer has kindly consented to teach the ladies of a class formed for this purpose by the Ellesmere Technical Association, and the first class will meet next Thursday at 2 p.m. Cotton, needles and tussocks, the only materials needed, will be provided for the first few lessons.
