MADAME STEPHANIE.
Modes bt Robes.
Algy Talbot, after much weary lodg-ing-hunting, found rooms to suit him •t last m South Audley Street. Not an important circumstance apparently, for the rooms were bat required pro tern., whilst his family mansion m Grosrenor Square underwent redecorating ; yet the fact was destine 1 to affect his whole after-career. A lucky fellow, Algy ! was the con* stant comment of his friends, and they numbered many of both sexes. His luck consisted of his good looks, his popularity, his unfailing spirits, and last, but not least, his immense wealth. Ihere was a crumpled leaf even m this luxurious couch of roses, though he kept his trouble to himself and hid his sorrow beneath the mask of gaiety. * That lovely house ought to hare a mistress,' a frisky matron said to him one day, though m truth it was the last thing she wished to see to come to pass. Algy laughed the matter off with a merry retort and believed implicitly that at the mature age of tbree-and-thirty he and Lore had bade adieu to each other for evermore.
