importing breeding stock into the States from the fact that that there were no duly recognized Herd and Stud books here, for registering thoroughbrod stock Several members expressed their a,p, proval of a scheme to establish such, and on motion of Mr Reimie, seconded by Mr Lunn, it was resolved that t\o 1 Oovernnient authorities be requested to * accept as authentic tho Clydesdale and Thoroughbred Sfud books, and the Shorthorn Herd books already m existence m Canterbury. On the motion of Mr Larobie, seconded by Mr Henley, it was also decided to ask Government to exercise similar precaution m the importation of stock into this colony. AGRICULTURAL INFORMATION. In compliance with a request from the Agricultural Department, it was resolved to appoint § sub-committi • to inform the department 6/f any questions of public interest from time to time, and Messrs Rennie, I^wxemje and Marshall wjßre so appointed. The .! ; (! , '1 GROUND' COMHMtPBB : ■■'*■ reported that the catetaker was willing to do all Work on the grbtihds, repairing etc., m retui»n fpr tHe'pnv.lbge of using the land and leasing the same. His offer was accepted, on condition that the land should not be let at any time withy- out the consent of the Committee ; the object being to prevent the : grounds being used as an accommodation paddock, j ; PRIZE LIST. The consideration of the priza list, etc, was then gone into at length, bub no material alteration were made. A class^'was added for 31bs powdered butter for T persons occupying not jaore than 5 acres of land and not milking m«re than two cows. The quantity of clover to be exhibited was altered from 20lbs to 1 cwt, , GENERAL. Mr Henley moved that steps betaken to utilize the Association as a Farmers' Club and that monthly meetings be held. Seconded b/ Mr Lawrence, and carried.
