HAWKERS AND PEDLARS.
i To the Editor. Pin. — It linn often occurred to me that it i- vjry '-hard linos ".on the tradesmen m this and other up country town ships that haw'cers of any conceivable commodity should be permitted to vend their wnres without let or hindrance The resident dealers have to pay heavy rents and business expenses, eiva credit and frequently make bad debts, whilst the interlopers contribute nothing whatever to the support of the district and unless they possess a hawker's license, — .which is open to doubr, have, beyond the keep of their horses, no busines expenses whatever not to apeak cf the ready cash trade they do which same rpady caßh, it \* possible, onghtin strict justice to be applied tt the liquidation, m many instances, of the resident storekeeper's account. In straggling district and back country placep where stores are few and far between, I am quite prepared to . grant that these itinerant dealers supply n useful want, but m townships and boroughs. 1 think M ik but common justice they should be 'ciunpplled to contribute m somi form to the locul boards.— l am Sir, etc., FAIB PLAY.
