An appeal from the Sydenham Olub against the disqualification was heard by the Rugby Uaiou ou TuursJay ingA motion to remove the disqualification was lost by a large majority. A motion expressing want of confidence m T, L, Smith as a referee, was withdrawn. The following resolution wai then propoied — v That the Sydenhatn club be allowed to bring independent outside evidence m support of the charge of incompetency against Mr Smith, such to bo heard at the general meeting on Tuesday next," Dr Withers (South bridge) and Mr G. Rennie (Letston) thought the matter had letter be dealt wit'i without delay, and that the specific charges against Mr Smith should be enumerated. Three matters m which the referee w>»S said to have wrongly decided were attached to the motion. On beinj; put to the meeting this motiou was also loat.
