! From the North* cote (Melbourne) Leader, we extract the following account of the distressing accident by which M. G/. Unwin^ formerly well known m this district, met his death ;— A shocking and deplorable accident occurred at the Northcoto Brickworks on Monday .morning, by which an engine-driver named* /George Unwin, •35'yeiirs of age, lost his life. As he was" not to be seen about, some anxiety began to be felt jabout him. Upon search being made poor TJnwin was found by the fireman John 1 Mahonyj •• between 4he main driving belt and the wheel upon which t runs. I !'' and protected by a railing, He crossed the belt with his legs and turned the flywheel from the wrong side. IJKb clothes mußt have o been caught by the belt, and he was drawn on to and round the wheel. A cofonial enquiry \i as held by Mr Candle, at the Carter's Arms Hotel,'Jao' iifeßulfridFJ 'which was that- tbe following verdict was lecorded •J-'Tbat deceased was accidentally killed br being caught m the belt of engine and jammed by the whee I .' Deceased, wpo was » favorite amongst his fellow wjorkmen, leaves ;* wffp and two children fOr whom much sympathy i§ felt.
