Melbourne, January 26 . An atrocious murder was committed afc Clifton Hill to-dad. A man named Wilson, actuated by jealously, nearly severed the head of his fiancee, Miss Marks, witli a razor while the pair were strolling through the Gardens. Wilson attempted to commit suicide, but his courage failed him. and he surrendered himself to the police. Sydney, January 26. The P. and O. s.s. Sydney was the unveiling of the statue of Dr Lang. The ceremony was performed by his widow, and speeches was delivered by the Governor (the Earl of Jersey), Sir H. Parkes, and Mr Dibbs, A most representative gathering was present to do honor to the memory of the old colonist.
