KLEPTOMANIA IN HIGH LIFE
Berlin society is discussing with hated breath a case of kleptomania in high life. At a recent aristocratic nail a young countess dazzled every,hody present with a superb v parure of diamonds, but when she arrived at home in the morning she was aston isliel to discover that her diamonds had disappeared. Her husband has influential friends at Court, and it is probable that his efforts to hush the matter up will succeed. Prince Pascal de Bourbon, brothei of the ex-King of Naples, has just .figured in a Police Court on a charge of fraud, in giving a m -rtgage of lo.OOOdol upon his villa, which he had already mortgaged to its full value of 30,000 dol The Prince alleges that he received no more? consideration for the mortgage, but some wine which he sold for 10,000dol. The mortgagee tried to sell the villa and extort the full amount of the mortgage, but the Prince was acquitted on the ground that no intention to commit a fraud had been proven.
