RDINARY MEETINO. The ordinary two-monthly meeting of j the Council was held at 3 p.m., all, the previously namec Councillors, also Councillor . McCarthy, being present. Moludne. of Blacks, threatening proceedinga against the Council for interference with his water race, through the construction of the Blacks drainage channel. The chairman explained that- at the present time no special monies were rrquired, -except possibly for the Cromwell Bridge ; yet in face of the regula'ions, unless the Conncil made an application now, when the occasion arose that money would be required the Conncil would be debarred from operatin a on tt-e Act. . The Chairman was instructed to npply to the Government for all monies due to the Council and as accrued from perpetual leases. From Mr Jenonr, Returning' Officer for Clutha Riding, exnlain ug that at tha nomination of candidates for Councillor for Clutha Riding vice Mr Howel resigned, he had but one nomination paper—that of Mr Wern-r. He accordingly had declared that gentleman duly elected. Prascr tepresent the County on the Board of Trusted* f»r «he Dunstai District Hospital ; Mr Deßavin on the Board of the Cromwell Hospital ; and Mr Petiie on the Board of the Naseby Hospital.
