CRICKET.
BLACKS CRICKET CLUB, 1 [Communicated.] The annual general meeting of the Blocks oriofcet club was held at the Shamrock Hotel, on Friday, 17th inst. Present: —Messrs W. Fitches, G. R. Boulton, W. Bannerman, W. Brown, W. Barren, and A. Garrett. Mr W. Pitches was voted to the chair. The minutes and balance sheet having been read and confirmed, Mr Bannerman proposed —That all present become members of tbe Blacks cricket club, seconded by Mr Barren and carried. Mr Garrett proposed—That all members be asked for their subscription within two month’s from the date of their first playing, and, in default of paying, that they cease to be members; seconded by Mr Pitches and carried, , Mr Bannerman proposed a vote of thanks to Mr John Pitches for his kindness in allowing the club the nse of his paddock as aground; seconded by Mr Boulton and carried unanimously. The meeting then proceeded to the election of office bearers. Mr Bannerman proposed—That Mr John Pitches be elected President for the ensuing season, seconded by Mr Garrett and carried. Mr Bannerman proposed Mr W. LaifUaw" as Vice-president, seconded by Mr Pitches and carried. Mr Bannerman then proposed Mr Boulton as captain, referring to the excellent services rendered by him to the club as hon. secretary. Mr Boulton, however, declined to stand. Mr Pitches thereupon proposed Mr Bannerman, this gentleman also declining to stand, stating that business transactions might necessitate his absence from matches. Mr W. Pitches was now proposed, and eventually elected for the season. Mr Bannerman and Mr Barren were nominated for deputy-captain, a show of hands resulting in favor of the former. Mr Garrett and Mr Boulton were pro posed for the office of secretary, and on the latter declining the office he has so ably filled in tho past, Mr Garrett was elected. Messrs Barren and Boulton were elected committeemen. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr Boulton for his past valuable services as secretary and treasurer. 11 was agreed that the season be opened on the first Saturday in October, and that the pitch be prepared by that date. The meeting then drank the toast of good fellowship, and the proceedings closed. CLYDE CRICKET CLUB. The annual general meeting of the Clyde cricket club was held in tho Library Committee Room on Wednesday, tbe 22nd, at 8.30 p.m., when a large number of members were present. The President, Mr Jeffery, was voted to the chair. The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. The balance sheet for the past season was readjand adopted. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr Keele for his services as Secretary and Treasuier; also to the out-going committees. Mr Jeffery here vacated the chair, and Mr Stevens was voted chairman. The election of officers for tbe incoming season then took place, resulting in Mr W. Fraser being made President ; Rev. Mr Martin, Vice president; Mr Keele, Secretary and Treasurer. Five members were nominated as members of a General Committee, the ballot showing Messrs Stevens and Gilkisoa to be elected. JNine members were nominated as a Match Committee, when Messrs Stevens.Thomson, Shaw, Keele, and McConnochie were elected by ballot in order named. Mr Stevens was again unanimously elected Captain for tbe season. A long discussion took place as to the question of raiding the entrance fee and a deduction bring made in favor of all members who supplied themselves with bats. After several amendments had b en put to the meeting, it was resolved chat the fee be 10s without any condition, but that each member be strongly recommended to procure his own bat. Messrs Jeffery and Keele were elected, collectors for the year. A hearty vote of thanks terminated one of the most successful cricket club meetings held for many years.
