Diseased Nature oltentimea breaks i forth in strange eruptions.’’—Act iii, Scene 1. t TO THE PUBLIC, SOME patients suffering fromnervous affections are afraid from sheer bashfulneas and modesty to personally consult a medical man—other patients have not the self possession and cool ness when in the consulting room, to accurately describe theiwsymptoms—their habits of life, smd the nature of the they suffer bom. Let such porsoms sit quietly down in tife their own apartments/anwwixh caffn minds describe clearly each of their case, a clear statement thus written, and laid before me. is far preferable in nervous diseases to a personal consultation. Where, however, a disease is of a peculiar and exceptional character, a personal consultation may become necessary; but my success in co respondence is so great, that of the thousands upon thousands whom I have treated by letter during the last 32 years, not a single mistake has ever occurred, not a case has ever been made public—in fact, the very simplicity of ray system of correspondence prevents publicity. At the same time medicines are sent to my patients in such a form as to defy detection. How many thousands have I not brought joy to 1 How many have been enabled to enter into the marriage state through consulting me 1 How many after marriage have pri vately consulted me and been blessed, and their married lives made fruitful and happy. How many wasted ruined youths of both sexes have also been restored to health, and thanked their manhood, for having consulted me by letter. How many questions arise where the family physician is unable to unravel the case, and where often the patient lingers on, not daring to tell his family medical adviser the nature of his complaint, until consumption wasting, or mental diseases set in, and the sufferer gets beyond the curable stage, and is left a hopeless Wreck. A letter written in the privacy of the room and dropped into the post box reaches mo quietly ; the answer is returned as quietly and uuostenta* tionsly, and the patient, without stepping from his chamber, except to post his letter, is by relurn of post put in full possession of the nature of his case. His hopes are raised, his doubts rc» moved, and ho is comparatively a new man 3 in fact, in many cases, a new being altogether. The only addition to the ordinary written letter is the age, occupation, habits and symptoms, nothing more. The usual consultation lee ot LI (one pound) must be enc o-.ed, otherwise no answer will he relumed. There are thousands of cases in daily life where a consultation with one at a distance, wi'l remove by a single letter, a great fear, a groat care, and it often solves what appears as an impenetrable mystery. Many a sad heart has been made joyfut on receipt of an explanatory note from me. To those who are about to marry I would say commit me l.efoio doing so, and thus prevent many after troubles, and remove many unnecessary fears and piejudices 3 to those, mo<e especially who have suffered in early years from dues'e, or who have yielded to their passions. To these I sav, at once, consult with me, do not tarry, delays are dangerous, and as an expert, my time may not always be at your service, you can, by simply en closing one pound, have the benefit of my experience in the same manner as if 1 lived in your own town, and witn the additional advantage of thorough privacy.—Yours, truly, LOUIS L. SMITH. Address Dr L. L, SMITH, | 182 Collins Street Last,
