Diseased Nature ottentimes breaks forth in strange eruptions.”—Act - iii, Scene 1. ! TO’ THE PUBLIC.

CfOME patients suffering fromner--0 vous affections are afraid from sheer bashfulness and modesty to personally consult a medical man—other patients have not the. self possession and coolness when ini the consulting room, to accurately!describe tjreir symptoms—their tabfta |f life and the nature o( the/ disease'they sttSer f>om. Let such persons! (he ol she) sit quietly down in the forivacy of their own apartments, ana with calm minds describe clearly each symptom of their case, a clear statement thus written, and laid before me. is far preferable in nervous diseases to a personal consultation. Where, however, a disease is of a peculiar and exceptional character, a personal consultation may become necessary ; but my success in correspondence is so great, that of the thousands upon thousands, whom I have treated by letter during the last 32 years, uot a single mistake has ever oc-, curved, not a case has ever been made public —in fact, the very simplicity of my system of correspondence prevents publicity. At the same time medicines are sent to my patients in such a form as to defy detection. How many thousands have I not brought joy tol How many have been enabled to enter into the maariago state through consulting me 1 " How many after marriage have privately consulted me and been blessed, and their married lives made fruitful and happy. How many wasted ruined yonths nf both sexes have also been restored to health, and thanked their manhood, for having consulted me by letter. How many questions arise where the family physician is unable to un- j ravd the case, and where often the patient lingers on, not daring to tell his family medical adviser the nature of his complaint, until consumption wasting, or mental diseases set iu, and the sufferer gets beyond the curable stage, and is left a hopeless Wreck. A. letter written iu the privacy of the room and dropped into the post box reaches me quietly ; the answer is returned as quietly and unostenta* tiously, and tho patient, without stepping from his chamber, except to post his letter, is by return of post pub iu full possession of tho nature of his case. His hopes are raised, his doubts re* moved, and he is comparatively a new man ; in fact, in many cases, a new being altogether. The only addition to the ordinary written letter is the age, occupation, habits and symptoms, nothing more. 1 he usual consultation fee of LI, (one pound) must he enc used, otherwise no answer will be i ©turned. There are thousands of cases in daily life where a consultation with one at a distance, will remove by a single letter, a great fear, a great care, and it often solves what appears as an impenetrable mystery. Many a sad heart has been made joyfut on receipt of an explanatory note from me. To those who are about to marry I would say consult me before doing so, and thus prevent many after troubles, and remove many unnecessary fears and prejudices ■ to those, more especially who have suffered in early years from disease, or who have yielded to their passions. To these I say, at once, consult with me, do not tarry, delays are dangerous, and as an expert, my time may not always be at your service, you can, by simply eu closing one pound, have the benefit of my experience iu the same manner as if I lived in your own town, and witn the additional advantage of thorough privacy.—Yours, truly, LOUIS L. SMITH.
