‘PAWNING A PAIR OP, TROUPERS I FOR MEDICINE. James Francis Thomas lives in Pontnewynydd, near Pontypool, Alommouthshire. He is now twenty-throe vasrs of age, living with his mother, a widow. Some eleven years ago, then,* Wpre S>JVho«ent to work in the c<#Tpil#}{ a ifinHV Wlfderto assist his molw iff war jig TJEr ramily cf little children. Booni hjjrevei *h§ little fellow I'roke <\npm infealjp sities of the fsmily'iodtjrtd to r«juß(e it, and he continued to toil inihe min ng all the time from thdfcffaots of indigestion, an agonising oymptdjpi being asthma, in s ich a troublesome form that "the boy was unable to He in bed. Working through the day. and resting a* best he oonld in a arm-chair during the night, naturally undermined his. emulation. Year by year his health grew worse and worse, until at last rheumatism came with all its dreadful sgony. One joint after another became swollen and inflamed, so that he was oblige I to stop work. In this sad plight the now young man was confined to the house for two long years, suffering a'l that mortal ■■could endure. One physician after another was called noon to treat his complaint, but with no benefit for.the ■= poor fellow continued to grow worse and worse. - Hoping to find some 'means of relief, a consultation .of doctors was held, when it was \ decide 1 that an organic disease of ’ the’ heart existed in an incurable form, and that medical aid could not afford relief. He was given up to die. These years of expensive medical treatment had exhausted the little savings of the moth n r, and they .had no money to bny even the necessaries of life. But a fond mother never gives up in despair. There was on spark of hope left. Someone had told her of a remedy that cured so many cases—even when as hopeless as this one ■seemed to be and the mother’s love went out for her dear boy.’-. Bat how to get tde medicine was the question. Their money was entirely gone The bov had a new pir of trousers that he had been jp ill to wean and the mother reasoned within herself, “if the boy it to die he will not need them, so I may as well pledge them for medicine with an effort to save his life.” Strange as it may appear, the bottles of medicine procured at the chemist’s shon in Pontypoo, with the money obtained frqm the pawnbroker effected a cure in t ! »ia hopeless case, which bad been pronounced as incurable. Bat it is only just to say that if the chemi. t had known of the wants of the:family the medicine coal! have neen obtained without a visit to the pawnbroker. It is now nearly/ two years sine' this took place, and young James Francis Thomas has been working in the coal-pit un’erground ever since, earning extra pay for m-er-weik, which he is able to perform. Of oonrse. he never had organic disease of the heart, as was supposed The palpitation, rheumatism, and asthma were symptoms of the real disc ate. which wrs dyspepsia, or indigestion, for which the remedy was specially adapted. Those was wish to communicate with this young man can write to him at the above address, and he will vouch for the curative properties of Seigel’s Syrup, the a-ticl i that effected this almost miraculous cure. The following letter is from a chemist, who thought the ■ following fact sbpnld be made known:— “James Francis-Thom is, of Pontnewyny-ld, near Pontypool, age twenty-three, collier, was it! for nine years, u ‘able to do any wmk •for three yeais, nev-r lay down in bed for nine years, had to sleep in a stooping pasture, wastieated by nearly all the doctors for miles around who genera 1 ly stated hiacomplaint to be rheumatism and heart disease of a chronic nature, and beyond all power to cure.
