HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE INSTITUTIONS.
The Otago Central Board under “ The Hospitals and Charitable InstitulionslAct, I'BBs, ”, held their .first meeting yesterday, November 5, at the Vincent Council Chambers Clyde, when the following members were'’present:—Messrs T. foster fManiototo), G. N. M ‘Donald (Alexandra), ■and W. Fraser (Vincent). The Board met at II am. but adjourned "till 1.30 p.m., and on resuming at that hour Mr Mackellar (Cromwell) took his seat, Mr W. Fra«er presiding. It was proposed by Mr Mackellar. and by Mr Foster—‘That Mr Fraser be appointed chairman for the ensuing year. —Carried.
Proposed by Mr Mackellar, and seconded by Mr Foster—That Mr J. S. Dickie be ap. pointed Secretary and Treasurer to the Board at a salary of L3O per annum, and ■that the cost of necessary bond be defrayed by the Board. The Chairman read the correspondence from Mr J. Hislop, Wellington, re the working of the Act, and laid same on the table.
Proposed by Mr Mackellar, and seconded by Mr M ‘Donald—That the meeting ad'jonrn sine die, the Chairman to convene, in the meantime to ash information from the separate Hospital Institutions at Nasehy, Dnnstan, and Cromwell, as to their income, •expenditure for the past seven years, and -an estimate of their requirements for the incoming year, and to ascertain the rateable ■valnes of the various contributing bodies. The meeting then closed.
