Leading physicians of New York city say that the morphine habit, particularly in the form of hypodermic injections, is fearfully increasing, and that deaths from such habit are continually occurring, though the cause is not suspected even by intimate friends. One physician estimates the increase in the last year at 15 to 20' pec cent.
