Diseased Nature ottennmes breaks forth in strange eruptions.”— A.ct iii, Scene 1. TO THE PUBLIC,

SOME patients suffering from netvour affections are afraid from sheer bashfulness and modesty to personally consult a medical man—other .patients have not the self possession and coolness when in the consulting room, to accurately describe their symptoms—their habits of life, and the nature of the disease they suffer f om. Let such persons (he or she) sit quietly down in the privacy of their own apartments, and with calm minds describe clearly each symptom of their case, a clear statement thus written, and laid before me is far preferable in nervous diseases to a personal consultation Where, however, a disease is of a peculiar and exceptional character, a personal consultation may become necessary; but rev success in co respoudence is so great, that of ihe thousands upon thousands whom I have treated by letter during the last 32 y ears, not a single mistake has ever occurred, not a case has ever been made public —in tact, the very simplicity of my system of correspondence prevents publicity.

At the same time medicines are sent to my patients in such a form as to defy detection. How many thousands have I not brought joy tol How many have been enabled to enter into the raajiiage state through confu ting mel How many after marriage have pvi vately consulted me and been blessed, and their married lives made fruitful and happy. How many wasted ruinedyontbs of both sexes have also been restored to health, and thanked their manhood, for h'Ving consulted me by letter. How many questions arise where the family physician is unable to unravel the c 'Se, and where often the patient lingers on, not daring to tell his family medical adviser the nature of his complaint, until consumption wasting, or mental diseases set in, and the sufferer gets beyond the curable stage, and is left a hopeless Wr ck. A. letter writ'en in the privacy of the room and dropped into the post box reaches me quietly ; the answer is returned as quietly and unostentatiously, and the patient, without stepping fmm his ch imber. except to post Iris letter, is by return of post put in full nossession of the nature of his case. His hopes are raised, his doubts removed, aud he is comparatively a new man ; in fact, in many Cases, a new being altogether.

The only addition to the ordinarywritten letter is the age, occupation, habits and symptoms, nothing more, the usual consultation fee ot Li (one pound) must be enc used, otherwise no answer will be i el urned. There are thousands of cases in daily life where a consultation with one at a distance, will remove by a single letter, a great fear, a great care, and it often sohes what appears as an impenetrable mystery. Many a sad heart has been made joyfut on receipt of an explanatory note from me. To those who are about to marry I would say consult me I efore doim> so, and thus prevent many alter troubles, and remove many unnecessary fears and piejudices; to those, more especially who have su(Tried in early years from d'-ea e, or who have yielded to their passions. To these 1 say, at once, consult with me, do not tarry, delays are dangerous, and as an expert, my time may not always be at your service, you can, by simply en closing one pound, have the benefit of my experience in the same manner as if I lived in your own town, and with the additional advantage of thorough privacy.—Yours, truly, LOUIS L. SMITH.
