A SUCCESSFUL SUEGICAL OPERATION. Tbe American Ambassador at Vienna, Mr Aasson, has lately forwarded to his Govern* mont an interesting account of a retna. ka« u 6 BUr < ,c al operation lately performed by Professor thllioth, of Vienna, which, won* netful to tell, consisted in the removal of a portion of the human stomach, involving neany one third of the organ—and, strange to say, the p.itient recovered—the only sue* cessful operation of the kind ever periormed. Jhe disease for which this operation was performed was cancer of the stomach, attended with the following symtoms : The appetite is quite poor. There- is a peculiar indescribable diet ess in the stomach, a feelmg that has been described as a faint “ all gone sensation; a sticky slime collects about the teeth, especial'y in the morning, accompanied by an unpleasant taste. Food tails to satisfy this peculiar faint sensation ; but, on the conti ary, it appears to aggravate the feeling. The eyes are sunken, tinged with yellow; the haddsand feet become cold and sticky—a cold perspiration. The sufferers feel tired all the time, and sleep doss not seem to give rest. After a time t|e patient becomes nervous and irritable, gloomy his mind being filled with »vil forebodings. When lising suddenly from a recumbent position there is a dizzine s, a whist mg sensation, and he is obliged to grasp something firm to keep from falling, the b vels costive, the skin dry and hot at times ; the blood becoming thick and stag* nant, and does not circulate properly. After a time the patient spits up food soon after eating, sometimes in a sour and fermented condition, sometimes sweetish to the taste. Oitentiraes there is a palpitation ot the heart, and the patient tears he may have heart disease. Towards the last the patient is unable to retain any food what ever, as the opening in tho intestines becomes close, or Heady so. Although this disease is indeed alarming, sufferers with Che above named symptoms should not feel nervous, for nine hundred and ninety nine eases out of a thousand have no cancer, but simply dyspepsia, a disease easily removed it treated in a proper manner. The safest and b-st remedy for the disease is Ssigel’a ii a J aVO ,, S> T Up ’. a ve B utaljie preparation sold by all chemists and medicine vendors, and by the proprietors, A.
