OPENING OF THE HOLLOWAY SANATORIUM.

The noble institution founded by the late Mr Thomas riolloway at St. Ann’s Heath, near Virginia Water, was formally inaugurated on the 15tb June by the Prince of Wales. His Royal Highness, who, was accompanied by the Princess of Wales, the Princesses Louise, Victoria, and Maud of Wales, and the Duke of Cambridge, Mins Knollys and Colonel Cla-ke in attendance, left the Nine Elms Station on the SouthWestern Railway at a quarter-past three, and arrived at the prettily-decorated V ir-uinia-water Station at 4 p.ra. Here the Royal party were met by Mr G. MartinHolloway and Mr Driver Holloway, and conducted to the Sanatorium, which adjoins the station, the Princess of Wales graciously accepting a magnificent bouquet of orchids, carnations, and stephanotis from Miss Martin-Holloway. After a brief interval, during which the invited guests assembled in the large hall of the institution, the Royal party were conducted to the dais in the hall, which was profusely a 'orned with choice fl >wers and palms where Mr G. Martin-Holloway presented the Prince of Wales with a description of the institution. In a king ilis Royal Highness to declare the building open, Mr Martin-Holloway said his late relative had devoted the late 15 years of his life to the c >nai leration of the best means of alleviating the condition of t lose who w<-re mentally afflicted; and his relatives appreciated the honour then conferred upon them by His Royal Highness with pride and gratitude. The presence of their Royal Highnesses on the occasion would ev rbe remembered by Mr Holloway’s family with the deepest affection and respect. His Royal Highness in reply said Mr Holloway, ladies and gentlemen, it is with sincere pleasure and great gratification that we come hero to-day to inaugurate this excellent institution. No one with such great wealth as your relative, Mr Holloway, possessed could have employed it to a more excellent purpose than in erecting a sanatorium, at so large an expense, with a view to relieve those of our fellow creatures who demand our assistance and our charity to alleviate their suffering. L assure you that it affords us great pleasure to come hero to-day to open this institution, and I wish it all prosperity. Turning to the audience in the hall his Royal Highness added—[ beg to declare this Holloway Sanatorium now open.
