At yesterday’s Land Board application for agricultural Lease by William Williams, Leaning Rook, was approved.
Application to purchase deferredpayment lease at Tiger Hill, by the Public Trustee, as |administrator in estate of James Anderson, was ap» proved. The boxing match last night'between William’ Parker and Donovan was won by former. Donovan under* took to knock Parker out in lour rounds but failed. The match was very hot while it lasted and was a grand exhibition of boxing. In House yesterday Sir Julius Vogel delivered his Supplementary Financial Statement, it was very dis« appointing, and does not meet with approval. It proposes to add an eighth of a penny to property tax, to abandon for the present the alterations of Civil Service, and to postpone pay« ment of Deficiency Bill referred to in former statement. The debate on the statement was postponed till. Major Atkinson leturns.
It is currentlv reported that either Ormoud or Bryce will move a no« confidence motion.
The poultry and dog show next week will be a great success. London, August 12. It ia announced that the British forces in India willshortly be increased by reinforcements of 6000 men. Tho Right Hon. W. Smith, Secretary of State for War, stated in the House of Commons last night that it was the intention of the Government to re» lieve from duty forthwith those members of the reserve force recently called out who were married men. He further announced that the remainder would shortly be permitted to return to their homes.

It is announced that General Lord Wolseley has been created a Viscount for his services in Egypt.
