Diseased Nature ottentxmea breaks forth in strange eruptions.”—Act iii, Scene 1. TO THE PUBLIC.

SOME patients suffering from nervous affections are afraid from sheer bashfulness and modesty to personally consult a medical man—other patients have not the self possession and coolness when in the consulting room, to accurately describe their symptoms—their habits of life, and the nature of the disease they suffer from. Let such persons (he or she) sit quietly down in the privacy of their own apartments, and with calm minds describe clearly each symptom of their case, a clear statement thus written, and laid before me. is far preferable in [ nervous diseases to a personal consul- [ tation. Where, however, a disease is of a peculiar and exceptional character, a personal consultation may become necessary; but my success in coixespoudeace is so great, that of the thousands upon thousands whom I have treated by letter during the last 32 y ears, not a single mistake has ever occurred, not a case.has ever been made public—in fact, the very simplicity of my system of correspondence prevents publicity.

At the same time medicines are sent to my patients in such a form as to defy detection. How many thousands have I not brought joy to? How mauy have been enabled to enter into the maariaga state through consulting me ?

How many after marriage Lave privately consulted me and been blessed, and tbeir married lives made fruitful and bappy. How many wasted ruined yonths of both sexes have also been restored to health, and thanked their manhood, for having consulted me by letter. How many cprestions arise where the family physician is unable to unravel the case, and where often the patient lingers on, not daring to tell his family medical adviser the nature of his complaint, until consumption wasting, or mental diseases set in, and the sufferer gets beyond the curable stage, and is left a hopeless Wreck. A. letter written in the privacy of the room' and dropped into the post bos reaches me quietly ; the answer is returned as quietly and lines tenia* tiously, and the patient, without stepping from his chamber, except to post his letter, is by return of post put in full possession of the nature of his case. His hopes are raised, his doubts re» moved, and he is comparatively a new man ; in fact, in many cases, a new being altogether. The only addition to the ordinary written letter is the age, occupation, habits and symptoms, nothing more. Ihe usual consultation fee of LI (oue pound) must he enc osed, otherwise no answer will be leturned.

There are thousands of cases in daily life where a consultation with one at a distance, will remove by a single letter, a great fear, a great care, and it often solves what appears as an impenetrable mystery. Many a sad heart has been made joyfut on receipt of an explanatory note from mo. To those who are about to marry I would say consult me before doing so, and thus prevent many after troubles, and remove many unnecessary fears and prejudices j to those, move especially who have suffered iu early years from disease, or who have yielded to their passions. To these I say, at once, consult with me, do not tarry, delays are dangerous, and as an expert, my time may not always be at your service, you can, by simply en closing one pound, have the benefit of my experience iu the sumo manner as if 1 lived in your own town, and witn the additional advantage of thorough privacy.—Yours, truly, LOUIS L. SMITH. Address Dr L. L. SMITH, 182 Collins Street Last, Melbourne. Consultation Fee, by Letter, LI. Fee for Personal Consultation, LI Is. The latter is inclusive of Medicine.
