Diseased Nature otlentimes breaks forth in strange eruptions.”—Act iii, Scene 1. TO THE PUBLIC, SOME patients suffering from nervous affections ave afraid from sheer bashfnlness and modesty to personally consult a medical nun—other patients have not the self po-session and coolness when in the consulting room, to accurately describe their symptoms—their habits of life, and the nature of the disease they suffer fora. Let such pet sons (he or she) sit quietly down in the privacy of their own apartments, and with calm minds describe clearly each svmptom of their case, a clear statement thus written,' and laid before me. is far preferable in nervous diseases to a personal consultation Where, however, a disease is of a peculiar and exceptional character, a petsonal consultation may become necessary; but rev success in co’respondence is so great, that of ihe thousands upon thousands whom I have (seated by letter during the last 32 years, not a single mistake has ever occulted, not a case has ever been made public —in lac., the vety simplicity of mv system of correspondence prevents publicity. At oho same time medicines are sent to my patients in such a form as to defy detection. How many thousands have I not i rough:: joy tol How many have been enabled to enter into the marriage state through consulting me I How many after marriage have pvi vatcly consulted ane and been blessed, and their married fives made fruitful and happy. How many wasted ruined youths of both sexes have also been restored to health, and thanked their manhood, for having consulted me by letter. How many questions arise where the family physician is unable to unravel the c. se, and where oft: n the patient lingers on, not daring to toll his family medical adviser the nature of his complaint, until consumption wasting, or mental diseases sat in, and ilie sufferer gf ts beyond the cinabl. stage, and is left a hopeless Wt< ck. A letter writ en in the pi ivacy o'c the room and dropped into the post" box reaches me qui.-tly; the answer is leturned as quietly and n nos Lomas tious'y, and tho patient, without stepping from his ch amber, except to post his letter, is by return of post put in full possession of tint nature of his case. His hopes are raised, his doubts re» moved, and he. is comparatively a new man ; in fact, in many cases, a new being altogether.
The only addition to the ordinary written letter is the age, occupation, habits and symptoms, nothing more, t he usual consultation fee ot Li (one pound) must be enc osed, otherwise no answer will be leturued. There are thousands of cases in daily life where a consultation with one at a distance, will remove by a single letter, a great fear, a great care, and it often solves what appears as an impenetrable mysterv. Many a sad heart has been made joyfut on receipt of an explanatory note from me. To those who are about to marry I would say consult me i cforo doing so, and thus prevent many after troubles, and remove many unnecessary fears and prejudices; to those, move especially who have suffered in early years from disea e, or who have yielded to their passions. To these I say, at once, consult with me, do not tarry, delays are dangerous, and as an expert, my rime- may not always be at your service, you can, by simply enclosing one pound, have the benefit of my experience in the same manner as if I lived in your own town, and with the additional advantage of thorough privacy.—Yours, truly, LOUIS L.
