Diseased Nature ottentimes breaks forth in strange eruptions.”—A.ctJ iii, Scene 1. TO THE PUBLIC. SOME patients suffering from nervous affections are afraid from sheer bashfulness and modesty to personally consult a medical man—other patients have not the self possession and coolness when in the consulting room, to accurately describe their symptoms—their habits of life, and the nature ol the disease they suffer f om. Let such persons (he or she) sit quietly down in the privacy of their own apartments, and with calm minds describe clearly each symptom of their case, a clear statement thus written, and laid before me is far preferable in nervous diseases to a personal consultation Where, however, a'disease is of a peculiar and exceptional character, a personal consultation may become necessary ; but my success in correspondence is so great, that of the thousands upon thousands whom I have treated by letter during the last 32 y ears, not a single mistake has ev<-r occurred, not a case has ever been made public —in fact, the very simplicity of my system of correspondence prevents publicity. A t the same time medicines are sent to my patients in such a form as to defy detection. How many thousands have I not brought joy to? How many have been enabled to enter into the marriage state through consulting me 1 How many after marriage have pri vately consulted me and been blessed, and their married lives made fruitful and happy. How many wasted ruined youths nf both sexes have alto been restored to health, and thanked their manhood, for having consulted me hy letter. How many questions arise where the family physician is unable to unravel the case, and where often the patient lingers on, not daring to tell his family medical adviser the nature of his complaint, until consumption wasting, or ur-nUu diseases set in, aud the sufferer gets beyond the curabl stage, and is left a hopeless Wr- ck. A letter written in the privacy of the room and dropped into the post box reaches mo quietly ; the answer is returned as quietly and uuostenta* tiously, and the patient, without stepping fmm his ch imher. except to post his letter, is by return of post-put in full possession of the nature of his case His hopes are raised, his doubts ve- | moved, and lie is comparatively a new 1 man ; in fact, in many c ses, a new I being altogether.
The only addition to the ordinary written letter is the age, occupation, habits and. symptoms, nothing more, a, 1 lie usual consultation fee ot L'. (one v pound) must be enc osed, otherwise no answer will be leturned. There are thousands of cases in daily life where a consultation with one at a distance, will remove by a single letter, a great fear, a great care, and it often solves what appears as an impenetrable mystery. Many a sad heart has been made joyfut on receipt of an explanatory note from me. To those who are about to marry I would say consult me i eforo doing so, and thus prevent many after troubles, and remove many unnecessary fears and prejudices ; to those, more especially who have suffered in early years from disea e, or who have yielded to their passions. To these I say, at once, consult with me, do not tarry, delays are dangerous, and as an expert, my time may not, always be at your service, you can, by simply enclosing one pound, have the benefit of my experience in the same manner as if 1 lived in your own town, and witn the additional advantage of thorough privacy.—Yours, truly, LOLIS L.
