A SUCCESSFUL SURGICAL OPEHATION.
I'lio American Ambassador at Vienna, Mr ICaaaon, has lately forwarded to his Govern - ueut an interesting account of a remaika"le surgical operation lately performed l»y Professor Billiotb, of Vienna, which, wonteiful to tell, consisted in the removal of a portion of the -human stomach, involving near y one third of tile organ—and, strange to say, the p tient recovered—the only successful operation of the kind ever per tor men. I'lie disease for which this operation was performed was cancer of the stomach, atten led with the following aymtoms : The appetite is quite poor. There is a peculiar indescribable distress in the stomach, a feeling that has been described as a faint "all gone" sensation ; a sticky slime collects about toe teeth, espcoUTj in the morning, accompanied by an unpleasant ta<te. F .0-1 fails tu satisfy this peculiar laint sensation ; hut, on liieco.itiary, it appeals to aggravate the feeling. The eyes aie sunken, tinged with yellow ; the ha ids and feet become c drt and sticky—a cold perspiration. Tue sufferers feel tired all the time, an 1 sleep does not seem to give rest. After a time the patient becomes nervous and irritab.e, gloomy his mind being filled with “vil forebodings. When iiaing suddenly from a recum eut position there is a dizzmo-s, a whist.ing sensation, and be is obliged to grasp something thru to keep from falling, the bwols costive, the skin dry and hot at times ; the blond becoming thick and stagnant, and does not circulate properly. Alder a time the patient spits up food soon alter eating, sometimes in a sour and fermented Con litioii, sometimes sweetish to the taste. Oftentimes there is a palpitation of the heart, an . the patient tears he may have heart disease. Towards the last the patient is una-.le to retain any food what ever, as the opening in the intestines becomes close, or nearly so. Although this disease is indeed alarming, sufferers with the above named symptoms should not feel nervous, for nine hundred and ninety-nine eases out of a thousand have no cancer, I nt simply dyspepsia, a disease easily removeit if treated in a proper manner. The safest and best remedy fur the disease is SsigeTa Curative Syrup, a vegetable preparation sold by all chemists and me lioine vendors, and by the pioprietors, A. J White, (Limited), Loudon, England. This Syrup strikes at the very foundation of the d sense, and drives it out, root and branch, out of the system.
