DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL.

The,'ordinary monthly meeting of the Chmmittee of Management was held in the Committee Room, Town Hall, Clyde, on Monday evening, the 13th inst. Present—J. S. Hickson, Esq., Vice ?redident, and Messrs Cambridge, Holt, J. E. Stevens (treasurer), and Geo. Miles as Member of Committee, was read and received. > jfhe Visiting Committee reported that the Minister of Mine* during his late tour of the goldfields had visited the hospital and had expressed himself as being pleased ■with the general appearance of the Institution, and promised to consider the questions of water supply and bringing the institution into communication with the telegraph office by telephone. Report No, 2, recommending payment of accounts for salaries and supplies for the past month, amounting to LOS 9s fid, was read and received. , ' .... Treasurer’s report, showing a debit balance of L 32 6s Id, was read and reSurgeon’s report was read and received. The report showed that six indoor patients had been treated during the month, of •whom Iwo had been discharged Jand four remaining in the hospital at end of month. The Secretary said it was with the deepest poss hie feelings of regret that he had to refer to the decease of their late President, Mr M. J. Macginnis, and he felt assured «aoh member of the Committee would agree •with him in saying that the loss sustained ■was a more than ordinary one, as the ■deceased ever since hi* connection with the Institution had been moat assiduous to the duties of hik office, and had cousidered no trouble too great in advancing its usefulness. He felt assured also that the deepest sympathy was felt tor the bereaved widow and her children at their loss, and he would ask them to pass a motion of condolence. The unction was unanimously Carried, and the Secretary was instructed to convey the purport of the resolution by letter. Resolved—That a special general meeting of the contributors be convened for Saturday. May 2nd, for the elec ion of President piee .Mr M. J. Macginnis (deceased), and one member of Committee vice Mr T. Miles (resigned). Tlie Secretary was instructed to write Mr Reeves, liquidator of the Cromwell Quartz Minimi Company anent the proposed donation of f.20 to the hospital fiom the sick fund raised by the employees of the late Company. , . Mr J U. Cambridge was elected member of the Visiting Committee vice Mr T. Miles resigned. The meeting then closed.
