CAMRIBANS.
> (From a Correspondent.) Cambrians, December 22nd. The Rev. James Henry, M.A., having accepted a call to the Lauder District, the Revs. M'Cosh Smith (Naseby), Lothian (Alexandra). Telford (Roxburgh), members of the Dunstan Presbytery, held an Induction Service here on the evening of Wednesday, the 17th inst. The Rev. Mr M‘Cosh Smith (Moderator) presided. An excellent tea was provided by the ladies of the congregation, (to which ample justice was done at the conclusion of the service Alter a long struggle a minister is at last settled over the Lauder District, who, it is to be hoped, will give every' satisfaction. The children attending the public school were treated to a picnic and sports on the IBth, which also affo'ded an opportunity to the friends and well-wishers of the toucher who is leaving here, to present her with a beautiful timepiece as _ a mark of their esteem, and also appreciation of her kindness in teaching the children attending school sewing and fancy work after school hours.
Messrs Hughes and Morgan, of Vinegar Hill, are having a good washing np. 1 do not as yet hear of any others; in fact, as far as report goes, the amount of gold got heae this Christmas washing up will be ■mill, so much tha Woree for the district. Heavy rain fell here at the end of last weak, which was much needed.
