SPECIAL REGISTRATION OF UNREGISTERED BIRTHS : PERMITTED BY REGISTRATION EXTENSION ACT, 1882,
[Extract from New Zealand Gaseffe, 13tb November, 1884 i] Registrar-General’s Office Wellington, 7th November, 1884. The attention of the public-is drawn to the opportunity afforded, - for » .limitedtime—i.e., twelve months from the' 18th October last—to persons or the parents of persons whose births cannot how be registered under “ The Registration of Births and Deaths Act, 1875," to effect a: special registration by application to the RegistrarGeneral. By “ The Registration of Births Extension Act, 1884,”. the provisions of the second section of “ The Registration of Births Act Amendment Act, 1082,” are reenacted, and extend and apply to the later Act, which passed on the ISth October, They are as follows r—“lt shall be lawful for the RegistrarGeneral to register the birth of any child born in the colony previous to the period of twelve months before the date of the passing of this Act, but whose birth has not previously bean registered ; Provided—“(a) That satisfactory evidence on oath, and such other proof as he may deem necessary of the fact, place, and time of birth, and of the particulars of the parents, shall be sent t* the Registrar General within twelve months from the date of tbe coming into operation of this Act; “(b) That, on application to have such birth registered, a fee of oae pound shall be paid to the Registrar.General. “ The particulars of the birth and of the nature of the evidence produced shall be entered by the Registrar-General in a separate book, which shall be kept by him for that purpose ; the form in which the particulars are to be registered shall be prescribed by the Registrar-General.” E J. von DADELSZSN, Deputy Registrar-General.
