MISS GEORGIE SMITHSON.
This talented and now renowned 1 ;dy gave entertainments in the Town Hall Clyde, on Monday and Tuesday evenings last. On Monday she was met by a very fair audience, who thoroughly appreciate 1 the lady’s efforts to please. On Tuesday, however, the rrom was but poorly filled, yet she relaxed herte t in no degree, indeed, we think sha tried the more to give satisfaction, though to but a scant audience. The entertainment is of a unique character, an 1 consists in tho pourtrayal of a variety of characters, tho changing of dress being effected in marvellously quick lime. The cha g • from “Jo,” the outcast street waif of Dickons’ Bleak House, to that of the “ I'uchess of Devonshire,” was vary rapid, ana the transformation truly Wonderful, ihe “ Lancashire Lass” was doubtless vciy good, as was also the“oEi hetic Lady,” “Barney Branigan,” and “ .'Biggie .M.iofai lane,” in each of which she was to the manner horn; if, indeed, she was not a little too-coo real. Indeed, to sum up, we most pleasurably a Id our mre.l of praia 3 lo that given by tin Press of ‘ the Colony, aud pronou .ee her to be a talented actress, aud that her entertainment is fully deserving the support and high econiums generally accorded them. We must not omit i» our notice Mr Henn ssy, the Irish comedian, who acted the pait of waiting man, a id who l.y numerous witticisms, filled up the intervals beta een each part, adding not a little to the amusement of the evening. The playing of Mr Levy on the pianoforte was first-class, and commended itse f to tho audience. We understand inn. Miss Smithson intends pa-sing through the town amu in about a fortnight, when wo hope some elf irt will he made to induce her to agon grace the boards of oar ball. 'one uieati. n was made a ”-Ut ao eaterlaiumeut fir tho Dunstan Hospital. The idea is wor.h laki" / up, and we commend the subject to the Committee of Management.
