New Ministry are defeated by a majority of 19 votes. “Every member except Taiaroa voted or paired. ■ • .. - ■ For Ministers 33 -for Amend as cut 52; four pairs and Speaker make a total of 94. Such a thing never happened before. The Otago votes for Government were 13 Barron, Bradshaw, Brown, Rockland, Duncan, Gore, Larnaoh, McKensie (Mount I<la). Mckenzie (Moeraki), Shrimski. Stewart, Stout and Macandrew paired. For the Amendment ll—Cowan, Fulton. Gillies, Hatch, Hurst, - Joyce, Richardson (Mataura), Pyke, Ross,;, .Thomson - and Fergus paired. The abolition of gold duty favourably considered. - ‘ ’ The Benevolent Institution is to have L 3 to LI subsidy, same as Tuapeka Hospital. (The above was issued ns an Extra on Thursday).
