DUNSTAN DISTRICT HOSPITAL

The usual monthly meeting of the Committee of Management was held in the committee room, Town Hall, Clyde, on Monday evening last, the 11th inst. Present; Messrs M. J, Macginnis {in the chair), Cambridge, Miles, AttKeld, Sims, Crawford, J. IS. Stevens (Treasurer), aod Geo. Facho (Secretary). The minutes of previous meeting were read and couflrmed.

The Water Sup ply Committee reported, that they ba 1 ascertained cost of iron piping sufficient to convey the water out of an I across the Wai Reri Keri Valley, and from 'he rise opposite the Hasp tal right on to the ground, and as the time was coming on when a good and regular supply of water would be needed, they suggested that the Committee make up their minds as to what they intended doing. After discussion, it was resolved—That the Water Supply Committee employ a surveyor and get the proper levels taken. The question of ways and means cropped up. Eventually it was resolved—That as little or no direct monies had been obtained from',the Government for the Institution, that the Government be applied to through the member of the district for a vote to supply the Institution with water, the estimated cost of which is nos anticipated to exceed L2OO. The meeting then closed.

A meeting of the Local Committee of the Dunstau District Hospital was held in the Alexandra Library on Monday evening last, The Mayor (Mr M‘Donald) occupied the chair, and there was a full attendance of members.

The Chairman stated that the meeting had been called for the purpose of taking steps to raio funds for the Uunatan Hospital, and it would be for those present to decide as to the best method for effecting that purpose. Mr Wingfield explained that at the last annual meeting of tho Local Committee it was re-olved to get up a bazaar at Alexandra for tho benefit of the Hospital, but owing to other affairs taking place which would have clashed with the design, the bazaar did not take place, and he thought it was time that some steps should be taken to raise funds.

After some discussion, it was resolved that an entertainment for the benefit of the H ispital should be given in the Town Hall, Alexandra, on November 28tb, and a subcommittee, consisting of Messrs M'Donald, Wingfield, Finlay, and Forrest, was appointed to make the necessary arrangements.

A number of names were added to the subscription lists, and after a hearty vote of thanks to the chair, the meeting adjourned.
