Michael McVamee while working in Canhams wood ard at Auckland, yesterday, fell on to a circu’ar saw, he had one arm cut off and the other nearly severed hfe died in the afternoon after amputation. At the Education Board yesterday, Mr Green gave notice of ihe following motion for next meeting :—That in future the kind of punishment inflicted on the boy Ross in tjie Dunback school be prohibited in the public schools within this district, and the .Secretary write to all schoolmasters in the Board’s service intimating that any master will be summarily dismissed on its being proved that he has inflic ed the puni.'hmeat termed and known as riding the donkey. This decision not only includes whipping boys on or across a form, but also prohibits the monuting of a boy on the back of another while a whipping is inflicted-
