The whips were instructed to wait upon absent members who had voted with the Opposition in recent ■division in order to seeme their i per ition,and thecaucuswas adjourned until 11 o’clock this day. At the ap- ) >ointed hour 34 members assembled, and Mr Steward explained the position of affairs. Captain Moms 'h u moved the following amended motion ; “ That while willing to grant supply to Her Majesty for a reasonable period, this House desires to place on record its disapproval of the course taken by Ministers in recommending His Excellency to grant a dissolution without first affording an opportunity for the formation of a new Administration having the co fide nee of the House, inasmuch as Parliament has thereby been prevented fioni passing measures which it is highly desirable should be passed prior to a general election ; while also the expense of a double session will thereby be unnecessarily incurred.” This was carried! unanimously.
