The cricket m itch between the Australian t-am and the Eleven of the M.0.0. and Ground was continued tn-dav at Lord’s. The weather was splendid, and there was an enormous attendance. Th- Home team, with nine wickets down and 465 runs to their credit, continued their first innings—Barnes and Sherwin, the not-onts of the previous day, resuming their plac'-s at their wickets. Barnes added 10 to his acors . (making it 105). and Sherwin added six. when the latter was bowled, and the innings closed for a total of 481 runs. The Australians went in for their first innings, and succeeded in patting together 184 runs The highest sc -rers were ; Banncrman, bowled ... 32 M‘Donnell, stumped ... 64 Murdoch, caught .. ... 35 Bhickham, caught . . 57 (?) M" Donnell was badly missed early in his innings. The fielding of the Home team was. on the whole, pronounced rather weak. The Australians, being 297 behind their opponents, had to follow on, but in the second innings were only able to ad'l 182 runs to their score, (the highest contributors being Bannerman, bowled .. 22 Giffen,’ caught ... ... 26 Murdoch (not out) .. 4'2 SpofiV.rth, bowled ... .. 37 The Marylelvme thus won the match in one inuin' S, with 115 runs to spare. The Austra ians lost the s rviees of Midwinter, who injured his hand and was unable to bat.
