“ Lives of great men ail remind us, We can make our lives sublime ; And, departin';, leave behind us Footprints on the sands of time.’* HE above is reid with great interest bv thousands of young men. it inspires them with Hope, for in the bright lexicon of youth there is no such word as fail. Alas ! say many, this is correct,—is true with regard to the youth who has never abused strength—and to the man who has not been “passion’s slave.” But to that youth—to that man, who has wasted his vigor, who has yielded '•hnsel' up to the temporary sweet allurements 01 vice, who has given unbridledjlicense to his passions, to him the above lines are but at a reproach. .IVHat Hope can he have: What wpiranons ? What chance of lenvinj hi* footprints on the sands of time? Fo h'm, alas ! there is nought but dark despaii and self reproach for a lout life.

For a man to leave his footprints on the sands of time, he must hr endowed with a strong brain and nervous power. He must possess a sound, vigorous healthy mind, ir, a healthy V). dy—the power toconccive—the enemy to execute! But look at our Australian youth ! See the emaciated form, the vacant look, the listless hesitating manner, the nervous distrust, the senseless, almost idiotic expression. Note his de meanouraud conversation, and then say, Is that a man to leave his footprints on th< sands q{ time. Do parents, medical men and educators of youth pay sufficient attention to this subect 1 Do they ever ascertain the cause of this decay ; and having done so, do they (as a strict sense of duty demands) seek the skilled advice of the medical man, who has made this branch of his profession his particular specialty, whose life has been devoted to the treatment of there cases? Reader, what is your answer ? Let each one answer for himself. Parents see their progeny fading gradually before their sight, see them become emaciated old young men, broken down in health, enfeebled, unfitted tor the battle o life ; yet one word might save them, one sound and vigorous health giving letter from a medical man, habituated to the treatment and continuous supervision of such cases, would, in mostinstancea, succeed in warding oil' the impending doom of a miserable and gloomy future, and by appropriate treatment restore the enervated system toils natural vigor, and ensure a joyous and happy life. Dr. L L. SMITH, of Melbourne, has made the diseases of youth and those arising therefrom his peculiar study. His whole professional life has been especially devoted to the treafcmeni of Nervous Affections and the Diseases incidental to Married Life. His skill is available to all- -no matter how many hundreds or thousands of miles distant. His system oi correspondence by letteris now so well organised and known, I that comment would be superduons- (by this means many 1 thousands of patients hav been cured, whom he has never seen and never known) ; and it is carried on with such judicious supervision that though ,he has been practising this branch of his profession for twenty-six years in these colonies, no single instance of accidental dis covery has ever yet happened. When medicines are required, these are forwarded in the same careful manner without a possibility of the contents of the parcels being discovered. Plain and clear directions accompany these latter, aud a cure is effected without oven the physician knowing who is his patient. To Men and Women with Broken-down Constitutions, the Nervous, the Debilitated and from any Disease whatever, Dr. L. L SMITH'S plan of treatment commends itself, avoiding, as it does, the inconvenience and expense of a personal visit, J Address — DR. L. L. SMITH(‘ 182 Collins Street, Mi-ILBODRNK. Lato the residence of the Governor), ONSIJLTA.TION FJSE iT LETTER,
