“ Lives of great men all remind us, We can make our lives sublime; And. departing, leave behind us Footprints on the sands of time.” THE above is read with great interest bv thousands of young men. It inspires them with Hope, for in the bright lexicon of youth there is no such word as fail. Alas 1 say many, this is correct,—is true with regard to the youth who has nevpr abused strength—and to the man who has not been “ passion’s slave.” But to that youth—to that man, who has wasted his vigor, who has yielded v ’.cnsel t up to the temporary sweet allurements of vice, who has given unbridled; license to his passions, to him the above lines arc but as a reproach. ;What Hope can he have? What as|■!rations ? What chance of leaving hi* footprints on the sands of time ? For b«r,, a |as 1 there is nought but dark despair and self .-eproaoh/or a lout /t/e. For a man to leave his footprints on the i sands'>E time, he must be endowed with a strong brain and nervous power. He must possess a sound, vigorous healthy mind, it a healthy Vdy—tlie power loconccive—the energy to execute 1 But look at our Australian youth ! See the emaciated form, the vacant look, the listless hesitating manner, the nervous distrust, the senseless, almost idiotic expression. Note his demeanour and conversation, and then say, Is that a man to leave his footprints en the sands of time. Do parents, medical men and educators of youth pay sufficient attention to this subcot 1 Do they over ascertain the cause of this decay ; and having done so, do they (as a strict sense of duty demands) seek the skilled advice of the medical man, who has made this branch of his profession his particular specialty, whose life has been devoted to the treatment of thecc cases? Reader, what is your answer ? Let each one answer for himself. Parents see their progeny fading gradually before their sight, see them become emaciated old young men. broken down in health, enfeebled, unfitted for the battle o life ‘ yet one word might save them, one souhd and vigorous health giving letter from a .medical man, habituated to the treatment and continuous supervision of such cases, would, in mostinstances, succeed in warding off the impending doom of a miserable and gloomy future, and by appropriate treatment restore the enervated system toils natural vigor, and ensure a joyous and happy life. Dr. L L. SiVIITH, of Melbourne, has made the diseases otyouth and those arising therefrom his peculiar study. His whole professional life has beep especially devoted to the treatment of Nervous Affections and the Diseases incidental to Married Life. His skill is available to all- -no matter how many hundreds or thousands of miles distant. His system ol correspondence by letteris now so well organised and known, I that comment would be superfluous- (by this means many thousands of patients hav been cured, whom bo has never seen and never known) ; and it is carried on with such judicious supervision that though he has been practising this branch of his profession for twenty-six years in these coiouies, no single instance of accidental dis covory has ever yet happened. When medicines are required, these are forwarded in the same careful manner without a possibility of the contents of the parcels being discovered. Plain and clear directions ao- , company these iatter, and a cure is effected without oven the physician knowing who is his patient. To Men and Women with Broken-down Constitutions, the Nervous, the Debilitated and from any Disease whatever, Dr. L. L SM ITH’S plan of treatment commends itself, avoiding, as it does, the inconvenience and expense of a personal visit.' Addrens— - DR. L. L. SMITHf IS2 Collins Street, MELBOURNE.
