(NOTE'THE ADDRESSES: SO Princes street, Dunedin ; Great North Road, Timaru ; and Thames street, Osmaru “ Lives of great men ail remind us, Wc can make our lives sublime ; And, departing, leave behind us Footprints on the sands of time.*' THE above is read with great interest by thousands of young men. It inspires them with Hope, for in the bright lexicon of youth there is no such word as fail. Alas! say many, this is cerrect,— is true with regard to the youth who has never abused strength—and to the man who has not Ven “ passion’s slave.” But to that youth—to that man, who has wasted Ids vigor, who has yielded Vjnsel l np to the temporary sweet allurements of vice, who has given unbridled L license to his passions, to, him the above lines are but as a reproach, ,Wtmt Hope can he have! What aspirations ? What chance of leaving Ai» footprints on the sands of time? For b'n,, alas ! there is nought but dark despair i and self reproach for a lout life. I
For a man to leave his footprints on the saints of time, he must be endowed with a strong brain and nervous power. He must possess a sound, vigorous healthy mind, it a healthy b.dy—the power toconcoive—the energy to execute ! But look at our Australian youth ! See the emaciated form, the vacant look, the listless hesitating manner, the nervous distrust, the senseless, almost idiotic expression. Note his demeanour and conversation, and then say, Is that a man to leave itis footprints on the sands of time.
Do parents, medical men and educators of youth )iay sufficient attention to this subeot ? Do they ever ascertain the cause of this decay ; anil having done so, do they (as a strict sense of duty demands) seek the skilled advice of the medical man, who has made this branch of his profession his particular specialty, whose life has been devoted to the treatment of thetecases? Header, what is your answer ? Let each one answer for himself. Parents see their progeny fading gradually before their sight, see them become emaciated old young men. broken down in health, enfeebled, unfitted for the battle o life ; yet one word might save them, one sound and vigorous health giving letter from a medical man, habituated to the treatment and continuous supervision of such cases, would, in mostiustouces, succeed in warding off the impending doom of a miserable and gloomy future, and by appropriate treatment restore the enervated system toils natural vigor, and ensure a Joyous and happy life. Dr. L L. SaIITH, of Melbourne, has made the diseases of youth and those arising therefrom his peculiar study. His whole professional life has beep especially devoted to the treatment of Nervous Affections and the Diseases incidental to Married Life, Hie skill is available to alI--no matter how many hundreds or thousands of miles distant. His system of correspondence by letterisnow so well organised ami known, that comment would be superduous- (by this means many thousands of patients Lav been cured, whom ho has never sceu and never known) ; and it is carried on with such judicious supervision that though he has been practising this munch of his profession for twenty-six years in these colonies, no single instance ot accidental Uis oovery has ever yet happened. When medicines are required, these are forwarded in the same careful maimer without a possibility of the contents of the parcels being discovered. Plain and clear directions accompany these latter, and a cure is effected without even the physician knowing who is his patient. To Men and Women with Broken-down Constitutions, the Nervous, the Debilitated and from any Disease whatever, Dr. L. L SM ITU’S plan of treatment commends itself, avoiding, as it does, the inconvenience and expense of a personal visit Addrent— DR. L. L. SMITH, - 182 Collins Street, MELBOURNE Late the residence of the Governor). ONBITLTATION FEB AY LETTER, LL
